About 600 Journal carriers and their helpers gathered on E. First Street on July 14, 1942, for a photograph commemorating their efforts in selling nearly 1.4 million 10-cent war stamps, and their pledge to continue their efforts. A panoramic camera was used to create a long, narrow print, but The Journal does not have a copy of it.
